Faith is being super sure of something you hope to receive and being totally certain of something you are yet to see. However, is it possible to have this quality of believing in the unseen, and not succumbing to fear of disappointment? Yes, you can have faith irrespective of the circumstance you face. Faith is essential in our Christian journey because it helps us please God. In Hebrews 11:6, the Bible states that without faith it is impossible to please God. God is our creator and our father, who saved us from the bondage of sin. God gave us talents and has a purpose for every one of us. Thus, pleasing God makes Him give you everything you need per time to achieve your purpose. Constantly living by faith is the free ticket to please God every day of our lives.
How Can We Please God Every Day?
The answer is in the latter part of Hebrews 11:6. It says, "...whosoever draws near to God must believe that He exists and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him". The preceding sentence explains that in believing that God exists and in seeking Him, God is pleased with us. Believing God exists implies holding on to the fact that God is with you even when things go wrong. Remember, God was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when they were thrown into the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:8-25). Also, seeking God means committing your ways before Him and ensuring that you are doing God's will. David sought God’s face before chasing the Amalekites and He triumphed over them (1 Samuel 30).
The Reward of Having Faith
Since God is pleased with us when we have faith, He has rewards for us when we live by faith. Just like how a father has goodies for his children when they make him happy. God is a faithful rewarder of those who please Him.
The Bible shows the track record of God's reward for His children that have faith in Him (Hebrews 11). Abraham's reward was that He received an inheritance that served his generations. Noah's reward was that he and his household were saved from the flood that wiped the Earth. In Enoch's case, he didn't experience death. Amazing! However, that’s not all.
